If you can't distinguish two things, or to some point two things are not distinguishable, simply consider they are the same is a practical way to solve your problems.

If reality is a dream, but we cannot distinguish it from "reality," does it matter whether it is a dream or not?
If a god cannot intervene in the world to address real-world problems and is indistinguishable from a godless worldview, then the concept is not worth debating.
